International Relations

As from 1997, the Musical Office of the „Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy hosts the International Relations Department. The latter's responsibilities include international correspondence in English, French, German and Italian, counseling students in search for adequate international contests and festivals and accessing cooperation networks within one of the most important European education programs: SOCRATES-ERASMUS.
In 2007, the office was reorganized and at the present moment functions independently as the Research, development and international relations department. It is still involved in international relations activities, while also providing counseling related to financing grants for educational and cultural projects. The department constantly scans the higher education environment in order to update and improve the activity and image of The „Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy.
The department's personnel is constantly aware and provides reports on the national and international context related to the Academy's activity. They identify and update the information about funding sources, partnership opportunities and available opportunities for membership in various international and national organisms and associations. Furthermore, the department provides access to research programs and funding and development projects.
The "Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy in Cluj Napoca is a member of various higher education associations, such as the EUA (since 1996) and AEC (since 2003). This ensures compliance with European standards concerning studies' offer and structure; it provides a framework for international partnerships and international recognition.
L'Association Européene des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC) is a cultural and educational network, based in Utrecht - The Netherlands. AEC promotes and facilitates communication and partnership among its members, through organizing specific seminars and congresses. It develops international projects regarding professional musical training and it represents the interests of the European music education institutions.
The European Universities Association (EUA) is a European universities network, the result of a merger between the Association of European Universities (CRE) and the Confederation of European Union Rectors' Conferences. Based in the capital of the European Union, EUA is a key institution in analyzing, formulating, organizing and implementing of the development and improvement of the European higher education system. One of the most important projects of the EUA is The Bologna Process.
The LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME is the educational component of the European Comission - The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Agency Executive Agency. As from 1998, The "Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy has been included in the SOCRATES program, being involved in its higher education component: ERASMUS. Within this framework, the Academy has fostered and implemented student and teaching staff mobility activities, it has implemented measures aimed at integrating the Academy into the European university curriculum system and it has adopted the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS). These measures were targeted at aligning our institution with higher education standards in the European countries.
In 2006, The Gheorghe Dima Music Academy had 10 international partners, ensuring a framework for mutual student and teaching staff exchange.
As from 2007, the ERASMUS programme has become a part of the LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME and the Academy is striving to continue the Erasmus activities withing this new structure.
