Mission statement

Since 1990, the "Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy has been one of the most active institutions of higher musical education in Romania, as it reconsidered the cultural values of Romanian music and encouraged some initiatives such as: curricula reform, the institution management reform, research on national and international level, interinstitutional relations, introduction of the European credit transfer system (ECTS).

Education
As a main objective, the Academy intends to offer higher qualifications for its students, in the fields of composition, conducting, opera directing, instrumental interpretation, musicology, music pedagogy, singing and choreography. The teaching combines the informative and formative aspects, giving a complex structure of personality to the students. It reconsiders the curricula structures according to the job market. It emphasises the formative aspect of learning and it changes the evaluation structures. Through its partnerships with other higher musical education institutions from abroad, the Academy is an ambassador of the Romanian musical culture in the large universal concert of the world.

Research
The Academy provides support to individual research in every field of musical life: composition, interpretation, musicology. Through its institutional programes it supports the team research on local, national and international level. The teaching staff and the students of the Academy are active participants to many international cultural programmes.

Community
The Academy is an active part of the cultural life of the city and region. It is involved in many cultural activities of this part of the country, which gives the institution a cultural profile. It draws financial support from the community for further development.
